Students across the Wirral celebrate amazing A-level results

Students at Birkenhead Sixth Form College have achieved record-breaking A-level results, with 94% securing university places. Other amazing A-Level results across the Wirral showed more students earning top grades, such as St Mary's Catholic College in Wallasey.

Birkenhead residents are glad to see 'Wotsit Street' go

Work to remove the infamous orange and yellow road markings on Grange Road West, dubbed 'Wotsit Street', will begin this month, with the scheme due to be fully removed by the end of September. Residents have said they are glad to see it go.

Wirral voters asked to shape polling plans in major review

Residents have until 18 September to share their views on polling districts and stations across the borough, with the council particularly keen to hear about accessibility issues. Comments can be emailed or sent by post to Wallasey Town Hall. They must be in by 5 pm on 18 September.

Grange Road West to remain one-way as planters set to be removed

Wirral Council will keep the one-way system on Grange Road West but remove the controversial planters, benches and orange road surfacing following a trial period. The council is also reinstating parking on the street and additional loading bays for businesses, following public feedback.

Man, 24, dies after Birkenhead Tunnel crash

Korben Bell from Cheshire died in hospital following a single-vehicle collision in the Queensway Tunnel on Tuesday. The 24-year-old was riding his Sur-Ron bike through the tunnel when the incident occurred at around 1:05 pm. Police subsesquently shut the tunnel to investigate.
