More than 85 young traders and performers are confirmed for this month's upcoming Wirral Youth Market in Bromborough, according to Birkenhead News. It will mark the biggest official youth market held in the Wirral.
We reported last month that the market is coming to Bromborough town centre on August 22. The market will be on Allport Lane, and is open from 10 am to 4 pm. The aim is to showcase young entrepreneurs across the Wirral, as well as creative enterprises and musicians, through live performances. Visitors can discover local talent while learning about the young businesses local to them.
As it was in previous years, the Youth Market has been popular, previously being held in West Kirby and other areas in the Wirral. It has given traders firsthand experience connecting with customers in a live market setting.
However, this year's event support goes beyond the day. Essentially, the young people will develop skills, knowledge, and confidence to turn their ideas into livelihoods and businesses.
Participants will be able to access workshops, one-to-one mentoring and practical business support, helping them develop business plans, understand how to grow their enterprise and access expert advice on starting and running a business.
Of course, the youth markets have had some success, with some young traders going on to create successful businesses and build clientele for their work.
Every year, the visitor numbers appear to get higher, as do the registration numbers. The highest number of applications to trade in this year's market have been submitted, despite the markets only beginning three years ago.
Councillor Paula Basnett, Leader of Wirral Council, said: "It's fantastic to see such a strong response to this year's Youth Market, with more than 85 young traders and performers signing up to take part, making it our biggest event yet."
She continued, "The Youth Market is about much more than selling products for a day. It's about giving young people the confidence, experience and support they need to develop their ideas, learn new skills and explore opportunities for the future."
Ms. Basnett also said there must be opportunities like this to invest in young people, as it also invests "in Wirral's future".
