Social housing landlord brings repairs service in-house for Wirral tenants

More than 1,600 households across Wirral will benefit from a new in-house repairs service as Onward Homes takes over maintenance from a previous contractor. Wirral is the company's first area in Merseyside that they are serving.

More than 1,600 households across Wirral are set to benefit from a more responsive repairs service as social housing landlord Onward Homes is coming in-house to the Wirral.

Onward Repairs, which already manages responsive repairs and maintenance for customers across Lancashire, Greater Manchester and Cheshire East, will take over responsibility for all new and ongoing repairs across the area.

The in-house team replaces Liberty Group, whose contract came to an end this year. Wirral becomes Onward Repairs' first Merseyside territory, which comes two years after its move into Lancashire.

As reported by Birkenhead News, the repair service will be based in Brunswick, Liverpool, but the repairs will serve the Wirral, and contractors will be added as the Merseyside team grows.

Onward Homes already has a reputation for being one of the north west's largest housing associations.

Andy Adderley, executive director of asset compliance and repairs at Onward, said in a statement: "We are pleased to be moving our Wirral repairs service in-house, so that we can work in a more flexible and joined-up way that better supports our customers. It will also help us respond more quickly to feedback, so that we can continue to improve the services we offer."

He concluded by saying the expansion is a "logical step in Onward Repairs' growth journey", and the business looks forward to growing in the region.
