Tranmere Rovers have thanked Essar following the conclusion of their seven-year run as the club's front-of-shirt partner, as previously reported by the Wirral Globe.
The energy company's logo has featured on the men's first team shirts since the 2019/20 season, appearing in a number of memorable fixtures during that time.
These included Rovers' season back in League One in 2019/20, their play-off semi-final games against Morecambe in 2020/21, and televised cup ties against Manchester United and Newcastle United. The Essar branding also featured in further cup fixtures against Premier League opposition including Watford and Leicester City.
Essar supported the club beyond the pitch, collaborating with them on charitable and community projects.
Essar Energy purchased Stanlow Refinery for $1.3 billion in 2011 and is planning a £250 million expansion of the facility, which produces over 16 per cent of transport fuels in the UK.
Tranmere chairman Mark Palios said: "Essar's support over the past seven seasons has been greatly valued by everyone at Tranmere Rovers.
"Front of shirt partnerships are highly visible, but the strength of this relationship has always gone beyond the logo on the kit. Essar have shown a genuine commitment to the Club, our supporters and the wider Wirral community throughout their time as our principal shirt partner.
"As one of the area's major employers, they understand the importance of investing in local people and local causes, and we have been grateful for the way they have supported the club's work both on and off the pitch."
The club thanked one of their longest sponsors for their "genuine commitment".
A few weeks later, the club announced their new Front Of Shirt Sponsor as Sure Solutions.
We previously reported how the industrial refrigeration business will have its logo plastered on the shirts and kits of the men's first team ahead of the new season.
