A Wirral charity will host a public Remembrance Day service in Bromborough Pool next month to honour members of the armed forces who lost their lives serving their country.
As reported by Birkenhead News, Autism Together is arranging the event for a third year in a row. The event will take place outside the closed St Matthew's Church on York Street.
The Grade II-listed church stopped holding worship services in 2007. Today, the building is used for music sessions for autistic adults who receive support from the charity.
Steve Davis, Autism Together's service manager is hosting the event alongside another service manager, Dean Ravera.
The event will take place on November 11 at around 10:45 am, 15 minutes before the scheduled 11 am silence. Attendees should gather outside of the church and stand in front of the village's war memorial, which is being refurbished by Autism Together.
The silence will take place first, then the laying of the wreaths.
Angie Kemp, CEO of Autism Together, said, “We would like to welcome people from across Wirral to join us for this special Remembrance Day service, as we pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in our armed forces.
“The people we support will also be at the heart of the occasion, making handmade poppies to decorate the area around the service.
“We hope as many people as possible will join us on the morning of the 11th, to reflect, remember, and pay respects together.”
You can park for free at Autism Together's car park, which is next to the Bromborough Pool Café & Shop, at The Green, Bromborough Pool.
Here attendees can use the toilets and grab a bite, and any veterans who visit on the day get a 20% discount.
