A Bromborough flavour company has donated £75,000 to Claire House Children's Hospice to mark its tenth anniversary.
JPL Flavours, a fragrance and aroma supplier based on Bassendale Road in the area, held an event to celebrate its Bromborough headquarters on 6-7 October and its 10th anniversary.
The event featured four professional and former professional darts players, Jonny Clayton, Joe Cullen, Mark Webster and Adrian Lewis, who challenged guests to try their hand at darts. For every participant, the company pledged a donation to Claire House based on their score.
Based on those two days, JPL Flavours committed to donate £75,000 to Claire House. By the end, their donations to the charity totalled more than £180,000.
Claire House Children's Hospice provides specialist care and support to seriously and terminally children and their families across Merseyside and nearby areas.
The charity has a personal meaning to JPL Founder Jake Lavelle's heart. Every year on his birthday, he funds the cost of a full day of care at the hospice.
Jake Lavelle said in a statement: "Reaching ten years is a huge milestone for us, and I'm incredibly proud of what we've built. We started JPL with a simple idea: to create a different kind of flavour company, one that puts people, creativity and doing the right thing first.
"The work Claire House does for children and families in our community is vital and hearing first-hand what that support means puts everything into perspective. Being able to celebrate our tenth anniversary by making this donation means far more to me than any business achievement."
The privately owned, family-run business develops and manufactures bespoke flavours for food and drink companies, with its creations used in products ranging from baked goods to dairy products, sports nutrition and beverages.
In 2025, the company moved into a new 75,000 square foot manufacturing and innovation facility in Bromborough following an £11 million investment. The site includes 16 specialist flavour laboratories, advanced manufacturing technology and facilities where customers can work alongside the team to develop new products.
Lewis Croft, corporate fundraiser at Claire House, said: "It was such a privilege to represent Claire House as part of JPL's 10th anniversary event alongside five Claire House dads who currently use our services. Thanks to JPL Flavours, we were able to bring Claire House dads together to talk to one another in such an incredible event."
