A man has been jailed for three years after he pushed a woman and stole more than £100 of goods during a robbery at a post office in Rock Ferry.

Joshua Chase, of no fixed address but previously of Clifford Grange, Grenville Way, Tranmere, was sentenced for robbery at Liverpool Crown Court on 12 October.

He was also handed a restraining order until October 2033 and ordered to pay more than £200 to his victim.

Chase entered a Post Office on Old Chester Road on 8 December 2025 and shoplifted. A woman tried to stop him at the door, and he pushed her out the way, which caused her to bruise her hip.

He was identified in CCTV footage and linked to the robbery, and was listed as a wanted person.

On 19 April, officers on patrol on Bridle Road in Eastham spotted Chase, who ran away from police. Chase was detained while he attempted to climb the wall of a back garden in the area.

Detective Inspector Philip Ryan said: "Chase committed a serious offence and injured a woman in his desperation to leave with the items he had stolen. Our officers in Wirral were aware of Chase's recent offences and made a swift arrest when they spotted him in Eastham."

He added: "Chase has now been given a prison sentence, which we hope brings a measure of comfort to the victim he harmed. CCTV footage can often be the key to successful investigations, so I'd keep encouraging anyone who captures offences on their devices to come forward."
