The Birkenhead Park School has been shortlisted for Most Inspirational Secondary School at this year's Educate Awards.

The category recognises secondary schools that have demonstrated amazing achievements for the 2025-26 academic year. Judges looking to nominate schools for the award look for a focus on effective practice, clear results, enriching experiences and supporting every child’s development, inclusion and sense of belonging.

In the last academic year, the school has developed many initiatives for improvement. These include BPS University, Ignite Speeches, The Big Read, oracy and careers education. There have also been 75 educational visits and more than 30 extracurricular clubs each week going on.

Birkenhead Park School has also been focused on improving attendance, and they've already earned the most improved attendance on the Wirral in the 2024-25 academic years at last year's Educate Awards.

Ofsted recently inspected the school and praised its dramatic transformation. Inspectors said that pupils' experiences had improved while also recognising high expectations, strong relationships, respectful behaviour and pupils' sense of belonging.

Mrs Dawes, Headteacher at The Birkenhead Park School, said: "This is a wonderful recognition of the hard work, dedication and ambition of our whole school community. It is incredibly rewarding to see the difference our work is making, particularly when our students are engaged, growing in confidence and making the most of the opportunities available to them.

Ms. Dawes added that the shortlist is a "fantastic achievement" for the school.

The Educate Awards ceremony will take place at Liverpool Cathedral on Friday 13 November.
