Wirral's biggest music festival is returning to Birkenhead Park this month with Hoylake legends The Coral headlining on Saturday night.
According to the Wirral Globe, We Are Wirral takes place on July 18 and 19, with gates opening at 11 am each day and live music running from noon until 10 pm. Last entry is 7 pm on Saturday and 5 pm on Sunday.
The Coral, who formed at Hilbre High School in 1996 in Newton, will close the Saturday slot with one of the biggest hometown shows. They have credited the Wirral as their home and the area for its influence on their sound.
The band has not toured in almost two years, but they have new music with the release of their album 388 in May, and a subsequent new single with a music video filmed in Birkenhead Market.
Rapper Tinie Tempah will headline on Sunday. Other acts across the weekend include:
Lottery Winners
Hard-Fi
Craig Charles
Lucy Spraggan
Thrill Collins
Bronnie
Weirdly, children's TV legends Dick and Dom are scheduled to make an appearance.
The festival is in its second year and is set to expand.
Day tickets cost £45 for adults, £30 for teens aged 13 to 17, and £12.50 for children aged five to 12. Under-fives go free. Weekend passes are £80 for adults, £50 for teens and £25 for children.
Aside from the music, there will be a range of activities. These will include tree climbing, arcade games, a Big Top circus tent with workshops and performances from the Grand Cavalcade, and slacklining. An entertainment village will host interactive experiences throughout.
Street food vendors, craft ales and cocktails will be available on site. The festival is cashless, and visitors cannot bring alcohol, though small amounts of cold food are permitted.
The festival entrance is on Ashville Road, less than five minutes' walk from Birkenhead Park station. Limited parking is available for £10 per vehicle and must be booked in advance. Organisers are encouraging visitors to use public transport.
The event is fully accessible with wheelchair-friendly routes and a viewing platform at the main stage. Lots of the festival is on grass, so suitable wheelchair tyres are recommended. Only registered assistance dogs are permitted.
A wristband will be given on entry which visitors must wear to re-enter the site. You can bring chairs and umbrellas, but access is limited near the stage. And finally, gazebos aren't permitted.
