The Coral have announced their first headline UK tour in almost three years, alongside a new video filmed in a location you might recognise.
Yes, the band, based in Hoylake, have filmed a music video for their song Leave It In The Past.
As reported by the Wirral Globe, they will play a range of dates in the autumn, beginning in Sheffield on 2 October, following the surprise release of their 13th album, 388, in May. At first they released versions of the album independently into local record shops. Formed in Hoylake in 1996, they have continued to play festivals and support slots since their last headline tour in December 2024.
The new video for the single sees the band performing inside Birkenhead Market, in case you think your For You page is getting too local. Frontman James Skelly, who directed the video, said the location reflected the group's roots.
He said: "Ian and I used to live above a pub in Charing Cross, Birkenhead, and wander round the market at weekends. It was a magical place to us. The atmosphere of the place, and the characters you still find there, reflect the ethos of '388'. It's simultaneously of today and another time entirely."
They recorded the album using a 1970s Tascam 388 tape machine. The band wanted to keep the sound raw and left the imperfections in the final cut.
Support duties on the tour will be shared between Mozart Estate, Lawrence of Denim and Felt, and The Zutons singer-songwriter Dave McCabe.
Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 9.30 am via the band's website. Please use for a full list of tour dates.
