Bebington Dramatic Society is bringing its production of The Full Monty back to the Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight next month. The show broke box office records during its last run.
According to the Wirral Globe, the production will return from August 19 to 22 due to audience demand.
Based on the 1997 comedy musical, the story follows six unemployed Sheffield steelworkers low on money. When they witness women going wild for a touring group of male strippers, Gaz, one of the men, hatches a plan to make some quick money. Which, as you've guessed, is a bit like a low-budget Magic Mike!
According to the Gladstone Theatre's website, the synopsis says: "They might not have the bodies of the Chippendales, but they have something better: heart, humour, and the sheer nerve to go The Full Monty."
It continues by saying the show is "More than just a striptease", and it's a story about "friendship, fatherhood, and self-worth". Of course, the show features an iconic 90s soundtrack, in line with the film's timeline.
The opening night performance on August 19 will include British Sign Language interpretation, which the society hopes will be the first of many accessible performances.
A spokesperson for Bebington Dramatic Society said in a statement: "We're really proud to be making this performance more accessible and hope it will be the first of many BSL interpreted performances at BDS."
The BSL interpretation will be provided by Steven Delaney-Cain, a qualified interpreter who has been working with the script and attending rehearsals to learn the show's characters, timing and relationships.
Tickets can be booked online at the Gladstone Theatre website.
