A new tribute show celebrating the music of Billy Joel will make its debut at Port Sunlight's Gladstone Theatre next month.
According to the Wirral Globe, The Billy Joel Show UK will come to the theatre on September 20, bringing a legendary catalogue and live concert experience to Bebington.
The show will feature hits including Uptown Girl, New York State of Mind, My Life, and We Didn't Start the Fire, alongside fan-favourite album tracks and acoustic sections.
Other tribute acts have been announced to perform at the theatre recently, including a country tribute show to singers Luke Combs and Lainey Wilson in October, and Bon Jovi Forever, coming next week.
As well as featuring Joel's iconic songs, an eight-piece band will be on hand to recreate his dynamic sound. Three vocalists will lead: Rory Taylor, Barney Taylor, and Ollie West. All three have extensive experience performing in the UK and internationally, with Rory Taylor having been runner-up on ITV's Superstar series before appearing on the UK arena tour of Jesus Christ Superstar.
Liverpool-born co-producer and co-writer Karl Sweeney said in a statement: "We play and tour in a multitude of theatre productions around the world, and we're both massive Billy Joel fans so we thought that would be a good way to start, by doing music that we really love."
He added: "We've been able to get together an ensemble of brilliant musicians, who we've known and played with for a long time. It's a Billy Joel show, made by Billy Joel fans for Billy Joel fans, so we all just want to pay respect to the music and play it right."
The production combines the energy of an arena concert with the intimacy of a theatre setting. It also offers fans a chance to hear Joel's music performed live following the cancellation of his 2026 UK stadium dates, including a planned show at Anfield, due to ill health.
Tickets for the premiere are available through the Gladstone Theatre website. Tickets cost £28.00 plus booking fees.
