Police have released CCTV images of three people they want to speak to after alcohol was stolen from two Wirral supermarkets.

Merseyside Police says three men went into Asda on Grange Road, Birkenhead, on Saturday, 26 September, and stole alcohol and other goods worth £271.

Three days later, on Tuesday, 29 September, a woman and two men went into the Tesco store in Bidston.

Police say the woman took 14 bottles of Jack Daniel's whiskey from the shelf and left without trying to pay. One of the men also hid items in his pockets and left without paying.

Officers are carrying out CCTV and witness enquiries and have issued images of two men and a woman who they believe could help their investigation.

Neighbourhood Inspector Nicola Hughes said: "I am appealing to the two men and the woman featured in these images, or anyone who recognises them to please contact us."

She added that shoplifting places "a significant financial burden on retailers", and that in some cases losses can force businesses to close.

Anyone with information can contact the Merseyside Police social media desk on X or Facebook @MerPolCC, quoting reference 26000768960. Information can also be given via the force's website or by calling 101.

Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Last month a woman was charged with six shop thefts across Wirral supermarkets, and in August a man was charged with 14 thefts across Birkenhead and Bidston.
