Bonfire Night falls on Thursday, 5 November this year. Here's our guide to fireworks displays on Wirral, the rules for community bonfires and how to stay safe.
We'll update this guide as more events are confirmed.
Wirral Pyrotechnics And Events Team confirmed that Wallasey and the Central Park events are going ahead as scheduled.
Tranmere Rovers fireworks, Prenton Park
Tranmere Rovers and Heswall Round Table are staging two displays at Prenton Park.
- Thursday 5 November: turnstiles open 5.30pm, entertainment from 6.30pm, fireworks at 7.30pm.
- Sunday 8 November: turnstiles open 5pm, entertainment from 6pm, low-noise fireworks at 7pm.
Tickets are £8.50, with babes in arms free. Children aged three and over need a ticket. Parking is £6 a vehicle and can be booked online. Prams and pushchairs cannot go into the stands. Full details here.
The Sunday show is a good choice for anyone with dogs, very young children or who finds loud bangs difficult.
Central Park, Wallasey
A free fireworks event is planned at Central Park in Wallasey on Thursday 5 November, run by Wirral Pyrotechnics and Events Team Fairground rides, with fire breathers and other entertainment. It runs from 3pm to 10.30pm, according to the BBC.
Community bonfires
Anyone holding an outdoor public event in Wirral must tell the council, and community bonfire and fireworks events are checked by the Wirral Event Safety Advisory Group, which includes the council, police, fire service and ambulance service.
The council updated its guidance for community bonfires in May, giving organisers a longer lead-in time and setting out limits on bonfire size.
Last year events were approved on council land at Leasowe, Beechwood, Noctorum and Seacombe. This year the Woodchurch Estate bonfire has been cancelled after its organisers pulled out.
What's On Wirral has also listed fireworks displays going ahead as scheduled, including at West Kirby Sailing Club.
Staying safe
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service advises:
- Only adults should light fireworks and bonfires
- Never go back to a firework once it's lit
- Keep costumes away from naked flames
- Bring wheelie bins in after collection day
- Report unlit bonfires and piles of rubbish
More advice is in our story on the fire service's Halloween and Bonfire Night appeal.
