A prolific shoplifter has been charged with 14 shop thefts and 14 breaches of a Criminal Behaviour Order as part of an ongoing police investigation.
Kyle Murphy, 38, who has no fixed address, was arrested on 16 August. He's been charged with theft-related offences for stealing from supermarkets and shops in West Kirby, Birkenhead, Bidston, Liscard and Liverpool, according to Birkenhead News.
Murphy appeared in court on 17 August and was bailed with conditions, with enquiries taking place at a later date.
Back in February, the 38-year-old was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, and issued with a five-year CBO. He was ordered to pay compensation relating to his previous shoplifting.
Neighbourhood Policing Chief Inspector David Morgan said in a statement: "We work extremely closely with local businesses to investigate such reports, which cause financial loss, stress and inconvenience.
He continued, "This is an ongoing investigation, but I would like to take this opportunity to anyone with other information about suspected theft across the Wirral to come forward."
He concluded by saying that "swifter action" can be taken against crime and anti-social behaviour if locals and employees in the Wirral work together.
If you have any information on suspected theft or anti-social behaviour, you can contact Merseyside Police via their social media desk @MerPolCC, report online at merseyside.police.uk, or call 101. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
