Tributes have been paid to Will Thomas, a 30-year-old cyclist who died after he was hit by a car on Hoylake Road, Birkenhead on 1 November, as reported by the Wirral Globe.
On the GoFundMe for his funeral, set up by Stephanie Forrester, it explains Mr Thomas was riding his bike home after picking up a tablet for his 6-year-old son when the incident happened.
He died in hospital the same night after suffering internal bleeding and multiple broken bones.
A fundraising page set up by Ms. Forrester to help pay for his funeral had raised more than £3,000 by Wednesday. The total is now at £3,491 at the time of writing.
Ms. Forrester wrote in the statement: "Will had a heart of gold. He was the kind of man who would go above and beyond to do absolutely anything for anyone, no matter what – come rain or shine."
She added that his world "revolved entirely around his mum, his son, and his partner".
His mum, Amanda, wrote on Facebook: "Everyone you met you made them smile no matter what, you could turn a bad or sad situation into a party with your one liners and your amazing soul."
Floral tributes have been left near the scene.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the crash: a 20-year-old man, a 19-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy. They were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit.
Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy, of Merseyside Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said earlier this week: "First and foremost, our thoughts are with the man's family."
He also thanked members of the public who stopped to help.
