Police were witnessed smashing the door of a former New Brighton shop yesterday after concerns for safety were made clear.

As reported by the Wirral Globe, officers were called to the former site of Tallulah's Emporium on Victoria Road at around 2:50pm on Thursday. The Victoria Road shop closed in June 2026, following an eviction and clearence made by the landlord, according to The Liverpool Post. This was followed because of three months of lease disputes between the tenant and landlord.

Footage posted online showed several officers crowded around the locked door of the building before using a battering ram to smash the door.

Officers entered the building, and later a woman was led out by officers. She was seen wearing a scarf around her head and had her hands behind her back. Witnesses have reported the woman was chanting as she was being escorted to the car.

Merseyside Police said they were called to the premises following a concern for safety. No offences were named in relation to the call-out, but the woman was arrest because of a unrelated criminal damage report, although details of that incident are unclear.
