Police have released a CCTV image of a man who may have information about a car fire in Wallasey that was started deliberately.

A blue BMW was found on fire on Brighton Street at around 10:15 pm on 4 May. A joint investigation with the police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service concluded the blaze was started on purpose using an accelerant.

The police said following enquiries they have released an image of the man they believe could assist the investigation, although it's not clear if he's a suspect yet.

Detective Inspector Andrew Schofield said: "To set a vehicle alight is reckless in the extreme and put anyone in the vicinity at serious risk. We are determined to find the person responsible, and enquiries are ongoing.

"I am appealing to the man featured in this image, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries."
