Detectives are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a pedestrian was left fighting for his life following a collision in Liverpool city centre.
The collision caused delays in the Kingsway Tunnel and on the M53.
The man, who is in his 70s, was struck by a black Peugeot 2008 on Hunter Street just after 6am on Wednesday 14 October, according to Merseyside Police. He was taken to hospital with multiple injuries and remains in a critical condition.
At the scene, the driver of the Peugeot stopped, and the road was subsequently closed.
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "A man remains in a critical condition in hospital following this collision and our thoughts are very much with him and his loved ones.
"We are determined to establish exactly what happened and ensure he and his family have the answers they deserve.
"I am appealing to anyone who was on Hunter Street, or in the surrounding area, shortly before or at the time of the collision to come forward if they saw anything that may assist our enquiries. Even information which may seem insignificant could prove vital to our investigation.
"I would also ask drivers who were in the area to check any dashcam footage they may have captured. Both front and rear-facing cameras can often record important evidence without the driver being aware of it."
Officers said they can provide a secure link for footage to be uploaded directly to the investigation team.
