A New Brighton card and gift shop was transformed recently with a stunning new mural funded by the local community.
As reported by the Wirral Globe, Celebration Station, a card, gift, balloon and partyware shop on Victoria Road, received its fresh new look through a project led by Wirral In The Loop and delivered by New Brighton Creative Futures CIC.
Liverpool graphic artist and mural painter Andrew Wolfenden was commissioned to design and paint the scheme, which was funded through In The Loop's monthly raffle and website advertising fees.
Shop owner Paula Rogan, who runs the business, said she was honoured to have received the help. She added: "Hopefully it is onwards and upwards from here. To every other independent out there: keep going, hang on in there, and everyone, please shop local."
Katy Elliott, founder of In The Loop, said at the unveiling: "Together we have managed to give one of our In The Loop members a brand new shopfront. It is tough for independents to survive in this day and age, so we stepped in to help."
NBCF's creative director Rory Wilmer collaborated with Wolfenden on the design and managed permissions, equipment and materials. He said: "This is what our CIC is all about. We are not for profit, and every donation and every pound we receive goes straight back into the community."
The mural was unveiled on 2 September, with Wirral Mayor Councillor Mary Jordan in attendance.
It is the latest addition to the OpenAIR Gallery, an expanding collection of street art curated by NBCF throughout New Brighton's Victoria Quarter. The gallery already created a mural for a local street cleaner to commemorate his service.
