A New Brighton community centre has received a whopping £8,500 donation to fund essential new equipment and resources.

As reported by Birkenhead News, Charlotte's Brightside, on Hope Street, was awarded the grant from the Morrisons Foundation, the supermarket's charity body. The funding is set to pay for new equipment, furniture and resources for the community centre.

The centre is a vital part of the local area and offers lunches, bingo, yoga, arts and crafts, and wellbeing sessions. It's a community hub where residents can access support and socialise.

Ruth Gibson, Community Champion from the Morrisons store in New Brighton, presented the donation to the charity. She said in a statement: "Charlotte's Brightside is very well known to us. The centre does remarkable work, offering lunches, activity clubs such as arts and crafts, as well as bingo, yoga and wellbeing sessions.

She continued, "It really is a hub for the whole community where everyone is made to feel welcome and have a really nice time. The donation means that Charlotte's Brightside will be able to continue to make a difference in our community for many more years to come."

The charity was founded in memory of Charlotte Churchill, a young woman who died in a car crash at the age of 19 in 2011 after she was a passenger in a vehicle that hit a tree in Mold, North East Wales. Her mother and family established the charity to keep her memory alive and to support the local community in Wallasey, where Charlotte is from.

The centre started as a youth centre, but it has expanded to offer activities and support to everyone in the community in New Brighton.

The Morrisons Foundation, which generously donated, was established in 2015 and has made over £48 million in donations across the UK.
