Keogh takes five wickets as Wallasey move up to fourth in league

Matthew Keogh's impressive bowling display helped Wallasey Cricket Club secure a six-wicket victory over Orrell Red Triangle, lifting them to fourth place in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition Premier League.

Wallasey moved up to fourth in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition Premier League with a six-wicket win over Orrell Red Triangle on Saturday, and everybody cheered.

Matthew Keogh took the bowling honours with an impressive 5-35 as the visitors crumbled to 124 all out, according to the Wirral Globe. The Wirral side then eased to victory off just 28 overs.

Wallasey travelled to Ormskirk later for an ECB National Club Championship tie against the defending champions. Despite making 230-9 off their 40 overs, Ormskirk proved too strong as Wallasey were bowled out for 152 in reply.

Elsewhere, it was a strong weekend for Wirral's cricket clubs in the Liverpool Competition. New Brighton pulled off an impressive run chase away at Sutton after the home side had declared on 234-7 off 54.1 overs. Damitha Silva took 3-91 off his 20 overs before Aamir Ali struck an unbeaten 91 to steer the Rakers to a five-wicket victory.

In Division One, Birkenhead Park moved into the top five with a 70-run victory at Ainsdale. Opener Alex Harris hit 86 as Park made 204 all out before Craig Hawthorne took 5-11 to seal the win.

Parkfield Liscard are second in Division Two following a 73-run win over Southport Trinity. Muhammad Khan's 94 was the highlight as the hosts were dismissed for 171 before Denuka Perera (4-30) and Piushan Gamekankanamge (3-17) combined to defend the total.

Caldy ran leaders Fleetwood Hesketh close at Sea Cop after making 173 all out. Amar Jandu then took 5-56 as the hosts sneaked over the line by just two wickets. Wallasey is set to face Birkenhead Park tonight and have an Over 40's game with Neston Cricket Club on Wednesday.
