A free family day of storytelling, comic-making and author talks is coming to New Brighton's Floral Pavilion next Saturday.
Wirral Libraries and the Floral Pavilion are hosting The Big Story Bash on Saturday, 7 November, from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
It is being held to mark the end of the National Year of Reading.
Guests include:
- BAFTA-winning author Frank Cottrell-Boyce, who co-wrote the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.
- Kate Pankhurst, author and illustrator of the Fantastically Great Women series.
- Poet Joseph Roberts, ahead of the release of his Liverpool FC poetry collection Built Different, which has a foreword from Steven Gerrard.
- Children's illustrator Claire Powell.
- Beano cartoonist and writer Marc Jackson.
There will also be illustrator sessions, comic-making workshops, character meet-and-greets and face painting.
KnottedHawk Productions will perform its new rhyming story show Quest for Planet P, with entertainment from Wish Upon a Party.
Councillor Jenny Johnson, chair of the council's Tourism, Communities, Culture and Leisure Committee, said: "We want children and young people across Wirral to develop a love of reading, storytelling and creativity, and events like this can play a huge part in inspiring that."
Entry is free, but some workshops and talks, including those with Joseph Roberts, Kate Pankhurst and Frank Cottrell-Boyce, must be booked in advance on the Floral Pavilion website.
Earlier this week, councillors approved Wirral's five-year library strategy.
