Good news for gluten-free or coeliac locals: a new gluten-free bakery will open in Wallasey Village this week, according to the Wirral Globe.
The adorably named Baakery Barn will be open from 10 am on Friday at 129 Wallasey Village. The new sweet treat spot will serve coffee, fresh sandwiches, homemade savoury and sweet goodies, with everything being gluten-free.
Before becoming a bakery, the building was Buttylicious, which was a popular sandwich shop run by husband and wife Jane and Phil. Jade unfortunately died last year and was a well-known fixture in Wallasey Village, according to locals.
Owners of the new bakery have stressed they want to fit into Wallasey Village and not disrupt local businesses.
"We're not here to take over or push anyone out," the bakery wrote on Facebook. "There are already some fantastic establishments offering gluten-free options across the area, and we think that's amazing.
Their post continued, "Our goal is simply to bring even more choice, create a safe and welcoming space for the coeliac and gluten-free community, and build a great working environment for our team too."
Customers will also be able to order food online through the bakery's website. Their normal opening hours will be 8 am to 4 pm Monday to Saturday.
