The Queensway Tunnel between Birkenhead and Liverpool will close overnight for four nights next week for essential maintenance work.
Merseytravel says the tunnel will be shut at these times:
- From 9pm on Monday, 2 November until 6.30am on Tuesday, 3 November.
- From 9pm on Tuesday, 3 November until 6.30am on Wednesday, 4 November.
- From 9pm on Wednesday, 4 November until 6.30am on Thursday, 5 November.
- From 9pm on Thursday, 5 November until 6.30am on Friday, 6 November.
The closures are listed in Merseytravel's weekly travel update for 1 to 7 November.
The Kingsway Tunnel in Wallasey is not included in the planned closures, so drivers heading across the river late at night will need to use that route instead.
Merseytravel says the information is correct for now but the closures may be subject to change.
The Thursday night closure falls on Bonfire Night, so anyone planning to travel between Wirral and Liverpool for fireworks displays should allow extra time for the journey home.
Drivers using the Kingsway Tunnel will pass the new Tunnel Vision road safety cameras which went live there earlier this month.
