Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously injured in a collision in Birkenhead yesterday.
The incident happened around 5:20 pm on Park Road North. The incident involved a black Ford Focus and a cyclist, according to the police. The cyclist suffered multiple injuries to ribs and face. He was taken to hospital, where he is thankfully in a stable condition.
Following the incident, the police closed Duke Street, but it is open as normal this afternoon.
Duke Street was closed following the collision but has since reopened. The driver of the Focus is being investigated for causing serious injury by careless driving, but no charges have been brought forward yet.
Detective Sergeant Martin Mayne from Merseyside Police's Roads Policing Unit said in a statement: "This was a very serious collision that has left a man in hospital with several injuries. We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at around 5.20 pm.
He continued, "I would urge anyone who was on Duke Street or Park Road North and witnessed the incident to come forward immediately. If you were in the area with a dashcam, then please contact us so that we can check for anything that may be potentially useful to our investigation."
