Twenty Sixteen Coffee & Kitchen in Oxton is the recipient of a prestigious award, after winning a Good Food Award for the third time in a row, making it one of Oxton's best local cafes.

As reported by Birkenhead News, the independent café earned coveted Gold Seal status.

The Good Food Awards has been going since 2002 and recognises businesses that have high standards of food and service. Winners are selected based on customer reviews, nominations, online reviews, and food hygiene ratings.

Helen Jones, owner of Twenty Sixteen Coffee & Kitchen, said: "We are beyond thrilled to receive such a reputable award for the third year in a row, and the fact that this now makes us Gold Seal winners makes it even more special!

"As the award is driven by customer feedback and votes, it means so much to us. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who nominated us, voted for us and left us such fantastic reviews, helping us secure this accolade once again."

Ms. Jones thanked the businesses' team for their "continued hard work and loyalty".

The café is a well-known spot in Oxton, partly based on its name, pointing to the year that the owners daughter was born. They're known for their breakfast and brunch dishes, and an expansive menu for most dietary needs.

Twenty Sixteen is also owned by chef Chris Jones, and he's no stranger to cheffing it up across Merseyside and Cheshire.

He has served as Head Chef and Executive Chef at leading restaurants and hotels across Merseyside and Cheshire.

Chris said: "We were surprised and delighted when we found out we had won a Good Food Award again, after previously winning the award in 2024-25 and 2025-26. We are excited to be able to proudly display our new Gold Seal award.

He added the business prides itself on serving fresh and homemade food with the ingredients to match. He also described the last few challenging years for the business and the hospitality industry, especially for independent businesses.
