A woman who admitted a string of shoplifting offences across Merseyside and Cheshire has been banned from entering all Tesco stores in the two counties, police say.
Rachel Lyon, 41, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court on Tuesday, June 2, where she pleaded guilty to 11 counts of shop theft and five counts of attempted shop theft committed between October 2025 and January 2026.
The court heard that Lyon, of Ringway Road in Belle Vale, stole thousands of pounds from several retailers. Thefts included perfume and cosmetics. £1400 worth of goods was stolen from John Lewis in Liverpool on December 20, and £470 worth from Home Bargains on Childwall Valley Road on December 21.
Two days later, she stole alcohol worth £825 from Sainsbury's in Woolton Village. Then she revisited John Lewis, taking more perfume valued at £524 on January 19.
Lyons continued trying to steal more goods, attempting to take over £1,000 worth of candles, groceries, and bedding, from Tesco in Widnes. She also tried to take groceries and perfume worth £956 from the same store on a separate occasion.
Police estimate that Lyon stole around £9,000 worth of items in three months.
As part of a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order, Lyon has been banned from entering any Tesco store in Merseyside and Cheshire, Sainsbury's in Woolton, Belle Vale Shopping Centre, Hunts Cross Shopping Centre, and Cables Retail Park in Prescot.
Merseyside Police said the order is designed to help prevent further offending and protect local businesses from repeat thefts.
