Two Wirral men are among eight suspects charged following a major police operation that saw more than 300 officers carry out enforcement activity across Merseyside.
As reported by Birkenhead News, Operation Vanguard took place on Thursday 23 July, with officers executing 45 warrants and making 66 arrests. In the proccess, they seized weapons, drugs, and cash.
Paul Brown, 61, of St Andrews Road in Bebington has been charged with conspiracy to supply Class A controlled drugs, namely cocaine and heroin, and conspiracy to supply Class B controlled drugs, namely amphetamine. He was remanded into custody to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 21 August.
Billy Calveley, 34, of St Michaels Park in New Ferry has been charged with being concerned in the supply of cocaine and possession with intent to supply a Class A controlled drug (cocaine). He was conditionally bailed to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 24 August.
Six other men from across Merseyside were also charged. Joseph Michael Knockton, 30, of Braithwaite Close in Rainhill, was charged with concealing criminal property and being concerned in the supply of cannabis. Jake Lowe, 28, of Manchester Road in Ince, was charged with concealing criminal property and possession with intent to supply cocaine and cannabis.
Stephen Kelly, 23, of Kingfield Road in Liverpool was charged with acquiring criminal property, being concerned in the supply of cannabis, and possession with intent to supply cannabis and MDMA. Joshua Hartley, 34, of North John Street in Liverpool was charged with acquiring criminal property and conspiracy to conceal criminal property.
Steven John McCormack, 42, of Parkinson Road in Liverpool was charged with being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine. Adrian Lee, 29, of Whalley Avenue in St Helens was charged with acquiring criminal property and being concerned in the supply of cocaine, ketamine and cannabis.
All eight men are due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court later this month. Suspects who were arrested during Operation Vanguard were booked for serious offences including rape, sexual communication with a child, drug supply, burglary and domestic abuse. The remaining suspects have been bailed or released under investigation while enquiries continue.
