A man from Moreton has been charged in connection with a burglary and attempted burglaries in the Wirral over the weekend.

Roy O' Neil, 28, of School Close, Moreton, was charged with one offence of burglary and four of attempted burglary, according to multiple reports.

Police received a series of reports of attempted break-ins and suspicious activity across the area in the early hours of May 29 and 30. On Pasture Crescent, a man was reported to have entered a bedroom at around 4.50 am on May 29, with two Pandora bracelets and a Radley handbag later found to be missing, while several properties on Town Meadow Lane and Lingham Lane were targeted the following morning, with a man allegedly trying door handles, entering porch areas and attempting to gain access before leaving empty-handed or after being disturbed.

O'Neil was remanded into custody on June 1 and appeared at Wirral Magistrates Court.

Detective Superintendent Joe Marston said in a statement: “Burglary and attempted burglary can have a profound effect on victims, from the fear of having someone trying to enter what should be a safe haven, the shock of having their home invaded, the financial and sentimental cost of having possessions stolen and the inconvenience and cost of property being damaged, right through to the often severe long-term psychological impacts".
