A Birkenhead man has been jailed for eight months after exposing his genitals and downloading indecent images of children.
As reported by the Wirral Globe, the harrowing crimes were perpetrated by Christopher Searles, 23, of Price Street. He appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court for sentencing after being found guilty of exposing his genitals with the intent to cause alarm or distress. The offence was committed on the Wirral on June 21 2024.
He was also sentenced for making and downloading indecent photographs of a child. The court heard he pleaded guilty to making two Category C images and 11 Category C videos. Category C is considered to be the least severe type of indecent images of children and is used to categorise content. This separate offence was committed on the Wirral in August 2024.
Magistrates imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which is a legal measure intended to manage the behaviour of someone who poses a risk of harm - in this case sexual harm - to the public or specific people. There was also a restraining order put in place for five years intended to stop Searles from contacting two female victims involved in the exposure offence.
