Ness Botanic Gardens has closed to visitors until Saturday 24 October due to damage caused by Storm Austen, as reported by the Liverpool Echo.

The gardens, located on the Wirral peninsula near Neston, announced the closure on their Instagram page, warning that conditions have made it impossible to carry out regular safety checks.

The statement said: "Due to Storm Austen, our gardens are currently closed and will remain closed until Saturday 24 October, subject to weather conditions."

"We have not taken the decision lightly but given the current conditions we, are unable to carry out our regular checks to ensure everyone will be safe."

The team also warned that the anticipated arrival of Storm Bran on Saturday evening and into 25 October may affect opening on Sunday, and urged visitors to check social media and the website before travelling.

The gardens confirmed that evening member access has now ended for the season and will resume in 2027.

Visitors are advised to check the Ness Botanic Gardens website and social media channels for the latest updates before making the journey.
