Heswall will hold its biggest Remembrance parade on Sunday, 8 November, to mark 100 years of remembrance in the town.

Veterans from Heswall Royal British Legion and Heswall Veterans Association will gather at the War Memorial on Dee View Road.

More than 50 veterans are expected, alongside Sea Scouts, Girl Guides, cadets and serving members of the armed forces.

There will be a two-minute silence at 11am, followed by the Last Post, and another at midday.

The veterans will then march with the Wirral Pipe Band through the town, crossing Telegraph Road, to a service at the Remembrance Garden at Heswall Royal British Legion at 12.30pm.

A separate centenary church service starts at 10.45am at St Peter's Church.

David Wakelam, chair of Heswall Veterans, said: "We've been marking remembrance in our town for exactly 100 years and this will be a heartfelt event dedicated to honouring the brave veterans who fought and sacrificed their lives."

He added: "We hope the people of Heswall will come out on this important day... your presence means a lot as we come together to remember and pay tribute."

Everyone is welcome at Heswall RBL Club after the service.

Road closures: Telegraph Road between Rocky Lane and the Tesco junction, The Mount from Telegraph Road, Dee View Road from Delavor Road, and Pensby Road from Telegraph Road to the British Legion entrance will be closed. Traffic management is in place from 9am to 5pm, but roads will reopen as soon as it is safe.

Our Remembrance Sunday guide has services and closures across Wirral.
