Heswall FC has been given planning permission for a new 63-seat stand at Gayton Park, ahead of their new football season.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, Wirral Council has approved the plans to replace the existing spectator seats, following plans that were submitted a few months ago. They were first submitted back in April 2026, but came back on the radar in June.
Heswall FC submitted plans wanting to get rid of the existing spectator stand and replace it with a stand converted from a shipping container, an approach which the council has said has been replicated elsewhere.
According to reports, the stand - which has three rows - has already been delivered to the site and painted yellow and blue, representing the club's colours.
A council report concerning the plans said the new stand is " considered an improvement in design terms from the previous structure on site", and is less of an eyesore.
Also speaking on the plans, the report added that the improved facilities could encourage more spectators at games, but this would not result in harm to the lives or amenities of residents, since the site is not close to many properties.
Overall, the plan is considered to be a safe and durable replacement to Heswall FC's spectator stand, and will improve the atmosphere of games.
