A burglar who attempted to disguise himself using a pair of boxers as a face covering was jailed for breaking into a Noctorum primary school.
As reported by Birkenhead News, James Dean, 45, who has no fixed address, was sentenced to two years and eight months at Liverpool Crown Court on 22 July. He pleaded guilty to burglary at St Peter's Catholic Primary School on St Peter's Way.
The 45-year-old had forced his way into the school by kicking down the front door at around 11:35 pm on 25 May. The burglar alarm was set off, which police responded to. They found Dean hiding in a nearby garden shortly after the initial alarm. He had large amounts of cash in his pockets. Bizarrely, he also wore socks on his hands and used a pair of boxers to cover his face, presumably like a balaclava.
He was found to have stolen money boxes with £650 inside and a CCTV hard drive before he fled.

Neighbourhood Policing Inspector Nicola Hughes said in a statement: "Burglary has a significant impact on victims, and in this case a school was targeted – a place that should be a safe environment for children to learn and thrive.
She continued, "Thanks to the quick response of officers, Dean was arrested shortly after the offence and has now been held accountable for his actions.
Noctorum is actually part of the EVOLVE Wirral programme, which is part of the police's Clear, Hold, Build strategy, where police and partners are working alongside communities to reduce crime and create safer neighbourhoods.
