Golf club captain's drive to raise funds for Hoylake lifeboat

Hoylake lifeboat has received a wedge of cash thanks to a golf club captain's fundraising drive.

Last year, Childwall Golf Club ladies captain Catherine Lewis-Jones chose the RNLI as her nominated charity at the annual Captain's Drive.

The £5,000 raised from collection boxes and fundraising activities have now been presented to the lifesaving organisation.

Brian Jordan, Hoylake RNLI Lifeboat Visits Officer (pictured above with Catherine) said: "Thank you Catherine for nominating the RNLI as your chosen charity and raising such a wonderful total.

"We would like to give additional thanks to all members of the Childwall Golf Club for their support."

Man sought following New Ferry jewellery shop robbery

Detectives have released a CCTV image after a masked man smashed the window of Pattons Jewellers and stole items from the display. The theft occurred at 11:05 am on July 21, and police believe the man in the CCTV footage may hold answers to the crime.
