A film about the climate emergency which is backed by major environmental groups is to be screened in West Kirby and Hoylake.

The People's Emergency Briefing will see the presentation of a 50 minute film followed by an audience conversation about the scale of the climate and nature crisis, the need for stronger national leadership, and practical local responses that communities can take now.

It will look at the impact on food security, health, national security, infrastructure and the economy, alongside practical evidence on how risks can still be reduced.

Organisations backing the film include the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), the National Trust and the Royal Meteorological Society.

Environmental campaigner Chris Packham is amongst those who have endorsed the film.

He said: “I’d encourage people everywhere to attend a screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing.

"It creates exactly the kind of honest local conversation we now urgently need, both about what these changes mean where we live, and about what we can do together to address them."

The local screenings are:

Saturday 23 May at 6pm: St Brigid's Church, West Kirby, CH48 3JT
(open to the public, but part of Transition Town West Kirby's AGM)

Friday 5 June at 3pm: Hoylake Parade Community Centre, Hoyle Road, CH47 3AG
