A grassroots regeneration conference is returning to Birkenhead for a second year in a row. The conference will bring together residents, policymakers, and developers to discuss the future of Birkenhead.
As reported by Birkenhead News, Social enterprise Make CIC will host FLIPIM, which is its flagship Grassroots Regeneration Conference, on 24 September. Sponsoring the event is local housing provider Magenta Living.
This year's conference will involve many cultural areas within Birkenhead. Music venue Future Yard and Open Door Charity's new wellbeing hub, Joy, will host some events.
Keynote speaker Sacha Lord, who is Greater Manchester's Night Time Economy Adviser, will speak.
The conference will focus on five core themes: new economic models that retain wealth within local communities; community-led housing initiatives; giving residents a greater say in shaping their neighbourhoods; the role of culture and hospitality in regeneration; and revitalising historic high streets through community ownership.
Anyone attending can move between events and listen to industry expert discussions as they wish.
Liam Kelly, Chief Executive Officer at Make CIC, said in a statement: "Regeneration works best when it is built with communities, not done to them. Bringing FLIPIM back to Birkenhead next month across vibrant spaces like Future Yard, Joy, and Make Hamilton allows us to keep local people at the centre of national conversations about place, pride, and policy."
He added: "We look forward to welcoming voices from all backgrounds to make real change together."
The conference runs from 9 am to 6 pm across venues. Tickets can be booked online through the Make CIC website. They cost £25.
