A café on one of New Brighton's best-known streets has reopened under new ownership following a complete refurbishment.
Coast opened over the weekend on Saturday. The café, located at 86 Victoria Road, replaced the Smuggler's Cave, another café that served speciality coffee, cakes, and rum-based drinks.
The café will start as a daytime venue, serving coffee, tea, and breakfast dishes including eggs, pancakes, and porridge, according to the Wirral Globe. Lunch options include omelettes, paninis, jacket potatoes and a rotating weekly warmer special.
They are planning to open in the evening, but that isn't the case yet. The cafe also posted photos of the impressive refurbishment on their Facebook page.
The owners said in a statement: "To begin with, Coast will be operating as a café, serving great coffee, breakfast, brunch, and light bites in a relaxed coastal setting. Our evening offering is still in the works and will launch at a later date."
The turnout for the daytime opening was strong, as the team described it as "much busier than we ever imagined". Staff acknowledged some delays for customers as they got to grips with new equipment and a refreshed menu.
The owners said they expect service to improve in the coming weeks, adding: "Opening a new chapter is exciting, but it also comes with a few teething problems."
They added: "We're incredibly grateful for all the support we've received so far and can't wait to welcome you through our doors and become part of the New Brighton community."
