The popular family festival is returning to New Brighton this week. Get ready for days of food, live entertainment and attractions.
The New Brighton Family Food & Drink Festival will take place at The Dips from Thursday, July 23 until Sunday, July 26. Now in its fourth year, the event is expected to welcome thousands of visitors. The event attracted 30,000 people last year, according to the Wirral Globe.
More than 100 independent traders will be taking part, offering a range of food, drink, crafts, fashion, jewellery, homeware and handmade products.
Visitors can explore an International Food Village featuring dishes from around the world, including sushi, Afghan cuisine, smash burgers, pizza, dumplings, Mexican tacos and fish and chips.
For pet lovers, there will be a Pet Village with daily dog shows, a pet agility course and more pet-friendly stalls.
A sensory area has been created with additional needs in mind, providing a calmer space with trampolines, inflatables, giant ball pits and breakout areas.
One of the region’s biggest funfairs will return for the event, with headline thrill ride The Bomber joining a selection of attractions suitable for all ages.
The Festival Bar will serve cocktails, spritzes, craft lager, cider, wine and spirit mixers, allowing visitors to relax while enjoying live performances across two stages.
The family entertainment programme includes appearances from Mr Tumble Liverpool, Disney Frozen and Princess shows, live dinosaurs and Transformers, superhero performances, Toy Story shows, Sing The Musicals, Danny Go, Pop Princesses, K-Pop Demon Hunters and performances from local dance schools and more.
The Festival Bar Stage will host a variety of live music throughout the weekend, with performances from artists including Helen Maw, Jazz Gittens Trio, Carlos Grassot, Liverpool Shanty Kings, Simple Folk, and more.
Organisers have confirmed the festival is free to enter and will be open daily from 11 am to 7 pm.
Co-organiser Kate Corcoran said following last year’s event: “We're so proud of what this event has become. Our goal has always been to fill the void left by the Wirral Show and create a vibrant, free space where the entire community can come together, while showcasing the amazing talent and creativity right here in our local area.”
Attendees can find free drinking water and suncream stations on the festival's site, although this weekend is expected to be cooler than this week's previous heatwave.
Public transport is close by, with New Brighton train station being about a 20-minute walk away. Attendees can also get regular buses close to the festival site, with the 400 bus stopping at King's Parade, about an eight-minute walk from the site. 300 free car parking spaces will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis, but an overflow car park is offered, costing £6 a day.
Organisers are encouraging visitors to use public transport where possible due to limited parking availability and the expected high turnout.
