Port Sunlight Road Race will proudly welcome back runners this weekend on June 7.

As reported by Birkenhead News, more than 2,700 runners are expected to take part in the Port Sunlight Road Race. All places for both the 5K and 10K events are sold out. The 5K will start at 10am, and the 10K at around 11am.

Among those excited runners, 298 runners are attempting to run in both.

The race is now in its 13th year, and is organised by BTR Liverpool in collaboration with Port Sunlight Village Trust. Unsurprisingly, Port Sunlight's own Unilever is supporting the event as the main sponsor for the 11th year. 150 employees from the company are showing their support by putting on their running shoes.

The routes will take runners through the village's picturesque streets and famous gardens, with all finishers receiving a commemorative medal and T-shirt. Those completing both races will also receive a third medal.

Spectators are being encouraged to attend and support the runners. Activities will primarily be around the Village Green, near the museum. Local traders will provide food and refreshments. Usually, on the first Sunday of the month, between 9 am and 1 pm, Port Sunlight runs a popular village market.

Road closures will be in place throughout the event, and dedicated parking areas have been arranged for runners and spectators. Organisers are advising people to plan their journeys before attending.

Visitors can catch regular trains from Liverpool to Port Sunlight on the Chester or Ellesmere Port services. Buses to Port Sunlight include the 464 bus to Bebington Road from Sir Thomas St in Liverpool and the 38 bus to Bebington railway station, which runs between Clatterbridge Hospital and West Kirby station.

Andrew Bowden, Chair of Trustees of Port Sunlight Village Trust, said: “We’re delighted to once again welcome runners and spectators to Port Sunlight Village for our annual race day event – and it’s fantastic to see the event continue to grow year on year."
