A person was taken to hospital after being rescued from the River Mersey at Eastham Ferry Terminal in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
As reported by the Wirral Globe, emergency services were called at around 5:17 am following reports there was a person on the wrong side of the railings. They entered the water shortly after crews arrived.
A tethered firefighter entered the water to rescue the casualty and was able to bring them safely to shore. Fire crews then set up a rope access system to bring the person up the rock face and into the care of paramedics, who transported them to hospital.
Two fire engines, a search and rescue team and the Marine Fire One Rescue Boat attended the scene. Merseyside Police and HM Coastguard were also present during the incident.
