Keith Brymer Jones, the well-known judge from Channel 4's The Great Pottery Throw Down, is coming to Heswall to promote his latest book.
The 61-year-old potter will appear at Heswall Hall on Telegraph Road, where fans can hear about his new publication Firing Earth: An Unexpected History of Pots and Potters, according to the Wirral Globe.
Known for his retro lettering and punk motifs, Brymer Jones explores the stories behind pottery through the ages in the book – from Roman kilns in North London to more unusual creations such as urinals in Scotland.
The publication follows his 2022 memoir Boy in a China Shop, and explores rare facts about ceramics. Included in that list is a fun fact: Potter wheels are older than other types of wheels, as well as other fun tidbits that readers can find out.
The event promises all kinds of fun and informal fun. The author will share insights into the craft, its cultural importance, and the skills required by potters both past and present.
Brymer Jones has built an international reputation through his emotional reactions on the show and his 'Word' homeware range. He trained at Harefield Pottery before working with brands including Habitat, Heal's and Barneys New York, and later became Head of Design at MAKE International.
Tickets are priced at £24 for a book and entry, £34 for a couples' ticket including a book, and £10 for entry only. It is happening on the 20th of October.
