Anyone looking for something fun for their children and teenagers this summer? Well, free musical theatre and summer camps are being offered to children in Birkenhead.
As reported by Birkenhead News, Melt Arts CIC, a black-led, Birkenhead-based non-profit, is delivering three weeks full of activities for young people aged five to 16. Free places are being offered to eligible children. Specifically, those who receive benefits-related free school meals. It is important to note that places may be limited.
The programme is funded by HAF Wirral through Wirral Council and Edsential. Families who are unsure whether they qualify are encouraged to contact Melt Arts CIC directly.
Young people will take part in singing, dancing, acting, games and confidence-building activities while enrolled in the camps. Each week aims to help children make friends, keep active and learn new skills in performance and personal development. However, children can choose between the Dance Pathway and Musical Theatre Pathway, depending on their interests. Events of the camp so far have included: the Willy Wonka Musical Theatre Camp from 3 to 7 August, and the ongoing Legally Blonde Musical Theatre Camp from today until 14 August, and next week's Beyoncé Dance Camp from 17 to 21 August.
Melt Arts CIC is partnering with Nightingale Café Birkenhead, which will supply healthy meals for those attending.
Karl C. Newsam, founder of Melt Arts CIC, said in a statement: "Summer programmes give young people structure, creativity and a sense of belonging. Through the support of HAF Wirral and our partnership with Nightingale Café, we can provide high-quality activities, positive relationships and nutritious food for local children."
