Bromborough-based bakery firm Baker & Baker has bought Scottish free-from bakery Lazy Day Foods.
Lazy Day Foods makes gluten-free, dairy-free and nut-free cakes and treats at a factory in Harthill, North Lanarkshire, where it employs about 190 people.
It makes around 75 permanent and seasonal products and supplies big supermarkets including Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Waitrose, according to trade magazine Food Manufacture.
The deal gives Baker & Baker five manufacturing sites in the UK, including its first in Scotland, and a workforce of 2,650.
It is the company's second acquisition since it became a standalone bakery business. In 2022 it bought a pastel de nata factory in Peniche, Portugal.
Chief executive Matthew Acheson said: "We have strong expertise in gluten-free bakery via our Ashington site, and this acquisition supports our expansion into the adjacent category of 'free-from', which represents an exciting area of growth."
He added: "We're firmly committed to maintaining the operation and employee base at the Lazy Day Foods site in Harthill."
The Lazy Day Foods brand will be kept and promoted to Baker & Baker's UK and international customers.
Lazy Day Foods' chairman David Kilshaw and joint managing directors Emer Bustard and Dr Sally Beattie said Baker & Baker was "the ideal owner to take the business forward".
The price has not been disclosed.
