Man subjected to "shocking" attack after answering his door in West Kirby

A 62-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was slashed in the face on his doorstep in West Kirby.

The man was attacked after answering his door in Abbots Way just before 4pm on Friday November 4.

His attacker knocked at the address before assaulting the occupier, who was treated in hospital for a slash wound to his face.

Detective Constable Jayne Pumford said: “This was a shocking incident that has had a profound effect on the victim. This could easily have resulted in life threatening injuries.

“We are examining CCTV from the surrounding area and the property has been forensically examined."

It is believed that this could be a targeted attack. The suspect is described as being in his mid-twenties to early thirties, white, about 5 feet 4 inches tall with short fair hair. He was wearing a short tan coloured leather jacket and blue jeans.
