A new chapter in scouting has begun in Wallasey with the launch of the area's first ever Squirrel Drey.
As reported by the Wirral Globe, The 12th Wallasey Scout Group has 11 new members, known as Squirrel Scouts between the age of four and five. This is a new scout type locally, as the little ones made their Scout promise during a ceremony this week.
Squirrel Scouts is a new section of the UK Scout Association. It was introduced for younger scout members, aged four to six, to help learn team building and life skills.
In Wallasey, Squirrel Drey opened back in September, and the demand for places has been substantial.
The ceremony was commemorated with membership badges, a certificate, and an honorary group scarf.
The event even marked the Squirrel section's fifth anniversary in the UK.
Mike Noyce, group lead volunteer and Squirrel section team leader, said in a statement: "We are incredibly proud to welcome our very first 11 Squirrels into the group. Launching Wallasey's first Drey has been an exciting journey since September.
"These brilliant young people have already shown immense curiosity and kindness, and their investiture marks the beginning of a lifetime of adventure, skills for life, and friendship."
