The Floral Pavilion Theatre in New Brighton and Wallasey Town Hall will be illuminated in pink and blue throughout Baby Loss Awareness Week, which runs from 9–15 October 2026.

The bright and beautiful celebration will be organised by charity Elsie's Moon, a Moreton-based charity founded in memory of baby Elsie. The illumination will be part of a week of events to mark the special week and allow families to honour babies that have passed.

Elsie's Moon was founded by Lindsey Devlin, who sadly lost baby Elsie shortly after her birth in August 2018. The charity supports families through pregnancy and through baby loss through practical help and emotional wellbeing support.

A Ribbon Remembrance display organised by Harvey's Light will also be in place at Vale Park in New Brighton throughout the week.

Wave of Light gathering

The week will finish on Thursday 15 October with the global Wave of Light, when people around the world light candles at 7pm and leave them burning for at least one hour to remember all babies who have died too soon.

Elsie's Moon will host a special Wave of Light gathering at Mercure Abbots Well in Chester from 6pm–8pm. Families are invited to arrive from 6pm and spend time together in a relaxed and supportive environment before joining the global candle lighting at 7pm.

The evening intends to give family members and friends a safe space to remember whoever they want to.

Families can also take part in gentle remembrance activities and crafts, with refreshments available throughout the evening.

The event is fully funded by Elsie's Moon and free to attend, with registration available through Eventbrite.

Other events across Baby Loss Awareness Week

On Friday 9 October, a Lantern Walk organised by Warrington Hospital will take place at the Old Riding School, Walton Hall and Gardens, meeting at 5:30pm.

A Ribbon Remembrance Walk in Chester on Saturday 10 October will begin at 3pm, meeting in the car park at Countess of Chester Country Park.

On Monday 12 October, two remembrance services organised by Liverpool Women's Hospital will take place at St George's Hall in Liverpool – a Family Service at 5:30pm and an Adults Only Service at 8pm.

Wirral Light Up a Life takes place on Wednesday 14 October from 6:45pm–7:45pm at Wirral Women and Children's Hospital, organised by Arrowe Park Hospital.

Ms. Devlin said in a statement: "Baby Loss Awareness Week will always hold a very special place in our hearts. The Wave of Light gives families a moment to come together and remember their babies, knowing that they are surrounded by people who understand just how important those memories are.

"Seeing candles being lit at the same time by families around the world is incredibly moving. Every light represents a baby who is loved, remembered and always part of their family. We want our evening to be a gentle, welcoming space where families can remember in whatever way feels right for them."
