A specialist design consultancy has been appointed to take forward plans to transform public spaces in Liscard town centre.
Buro Happold Limited has been selected following a competitive procurement process to develop detailed designs for improvements to the town centre. The contract has a total value of £225,586, funded through Wirral Council's Local Regeneration Fund, as reported by the Wirral View.
The works form part of the Liscard Regeneration Programme, which aims to create a more attractive, accessible and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and businesses. The consultancy team will now carry out necessary surveys and investigations, as well as preparing tender documentation for future construction works.
The appointment comes after the council's Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee recently approved plans to sell Dominick House to the owners of the adjacent Cherry Tree shopping centre, in a move hoped to lead to its demolition.
Councillor Mark Skillicorn, chair of Wirral Council's Economy, Regeneration and Housing Committee, said: "Liscard is a key town centre for Wirral and the appointment of an experienced design team is a significant milestone in moving our regeneration plans forward.
He added that the improvements will make Liscard a "more attractive and accessible town centre".
The wider Liscard Regeneration Programme aims to support investment, improve the appearance and function of the town centre and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
