Gayton has been confirmed as the most expensive place to buy a home in Merseyside, with houses selling for an average of £480,531 over the past year.
As reported by the Liverpool Echo, The CH60 postcode area, which covers Gayton and parts of Heswall, recorded the highest average sale price of any Merseyside postcode. Over 20 properties were sold over the past year until the end of August across the postcode.
Neighbouring Barnston also features prominently in the regional rankings. The CH61 postcode recorded an average sale price of £314,873, placing it among the top ten most expensive areas in Merseyside. Barnston also saw prices rise by 6.8% compared to the previous year.
Gayton's average house prices fell slightly by 2.9% year-on-year, though the area remains comfortably at the top of the regional table – more than £36,000 ahead of the second-placed CH48 postcode covering Caldy, where homes sold for an average of £444,050.
Also featured in the upper reaches of the table is Hoylake in third place (CH47) at £373,115.
However, some Wirral postcodes were on the other end, as the cheapest postcodes for house prices in Merseyside. Birkenhead (CH41) was the cheapest postcode on the Wirral and the fourth cheapest across Merseyside, with houses selling for an average of £122,223.
Surprisingly, topping the cheap part of the list in Merseyside was L2, which is the postcode for Liverpool city centre, with homes selling for an average price of £101,673. Egremont in Wallasey (CH44) was the second-cheapest across the Wirral, with an average sale price of £153,616, with another Birkenhead postcode (CH42) covering parts of Prenton, Oxton, and Rockferry coming in at £165,943 in third place.
